Home Theater
“We’re finding that moderately-priced audio systems in an acoustically well-designed space are actually outperforming top-dollar systems in undesigned spaces.”
–Tom Wells, President and Founder
A properly designed and executed home theater is the perfect setting to enjoy movies the way Hollywood directors intended. Sit down in your custom-fit chair, unwind, and lose yourself in the experience of the big screen, all from the comfort of your own Intelligent Home. You may even forget that you are just one room over from the kitchen!
Cool for the kids, easy for entertaining, an edge for business

Enjoy home movie nights with the family, create a space where it’s “cool” for your kids and their friends to hang out and play video games, or throw a huge Super Bowl party. Your theater can also be a great place for the kids to roll out their sleeping bags, and a platform in front of the screen can quickly become a stage for skits. In addition, you can use a home theater for the business end of your life. Teleconferencing and digital presentations are the way of the world; access in your home will give you an edge in the workplace.
Technology as art
Integrated Media Systems offers a whole host of design options. This is important because designing a home theater is a complicated collection of disciplines. Sightlines, lighting, screen size, acoustical characteristics, and sheer aesthetics are key in creating a space that’s comfortable, practical, beautiful, and high-performing. How do we do this? We are able to offer such a wide range of design options because of our association with leading interior designers, architects, and craftsmen both local and national, should you desire the ultimate in design and personal expression, our friendship and long term working relationship with Theo Kalomirakis makes all things possible. (Photo of Great Escapes) Of course, if you want your own interior designer or architect to do the theater space, IMS will provide complete support. Clients who want our systems often have the wherewithal to explore and develop their own concepts and dreams, and as always, IMS will be there to make them a reality.
Bring your ideas to our showroom and try out some styles for yourself. We offer the area’s largest selection of seating manufacturers, including such brands as Irwin, Premier, Pullman, and Fortress.
Whatever you choose, IMS will continue to work with the architect, the builder, the interior designer, and, most importantly, you, to come up with the best design possible for your new home, ensuring that your experience will be a rewarding one. Everyone wants something special so they don't end up with a theater just like the one down the street. We can deliver that.
IMS picks the right products to give you the best of all worlds with the touch of a single button.
With today’s rapidly changing technology, one thing has become clear: people have seen high-definition broadcast and BluRay DVD, and it’s obvious why it’s such a hit. 1080P hi-def is especially popular because clients have seen the life-like realism of its clear and three-dimensional picture, and have now become connoisseurs of video quality. Unfortunately, the shape of the screen for 1080P broadcast is different from the shape for wide-screen movies. This creates challenges for the home theater in several ways. Most importantly, it means that being able to display standard television, high-definition television, and DVDs without black bars requires a very intelligent video delivery system, such as the products from Runco, Cinewide™, and Autoscope®.
The Science behind the Sound
Here at IMS we believe that theater acoustics play a paramount role in lifelike reproduction. This means we focus on two key aspects.

First: Isolation, a room within a room.
In a home theater, it is important to keep external noise out and movie sound in. One hundred percent isolation can only be achieved by completely stopping sound vibration from passing into or out of your home theater through the floors, walls, and ceiling. To do this, we will build you a room within a room, with no wall touching any other component of the exterior shell. Thanks to our acoustical engineering partners, we can ensure that the room is not only completely isolated, but also designed for maximum performance.
Second: Performance
It is important for your home theater to have a high level of fidelity and intelligibility. To achieve this, IMS controls the absorptive, reflective, and refractive acoustical properties of the room by placing appropriate acoustical treatment in strategically engineered locations. Our trained technicians will “tune” the room for maximum performance and excitement.
All of these details lead to one thing: Maximizing the sound quality of your system. Better acoustics mean that you don’t need to spend as much on the equipment. As with all of your systems, we will show you how to spend better for your home theater, so you don’t have to spend more.
