If your security system detects a fire, your lights will all go to half-brightness. This level control could save your life. Without a dimmer, it is possible that you would not be able to see through the smoke. Similar to turning on your car’s high beams in a fog, full light in a smoky room could cause confusion and prove fatal. Again, the exterior lights will all flash, allowing the fire department to easily identify your house.
