Total Lighting and Shade Control… One Button Simple

Three-phase programming

Step One. Inspectors— Before you can move in, your lighting system needs to be approved by your local building inspector. Integrated Media Systems loads a very simple programming scheme for this process to meet local building code.

Step Two. The move-in set-up— Moving is a stressful time for anyone, and IMS knows that you certainly don’t need any extra hassles during that time. To ease your mind, we then load your unique starter program that will give you basic control of each room’s lighting.

Step Three. Fine-tuning— Once you have settled into your new home, and become accustomed to your new environment, we will schedule a programming session to build your next level of lighting control. It is at that time that we introduce you to scenes, path lighting, and other whole-house presets. Our technicians will go through each room with you, answering any questions, upgrading, programming, and making adjustments according to your preferences. It is not uncommon to want to tweak scenes after some use, so we give a one-year full warranty on programming so that your lighting control system can evolve as you become more accustomed to your new home.

Anyone in the electrical trade can sell lighting controls and wire up dimmers. We, however, know how the system should be mapped out and programmed. It is important not to over-complicate the system and make it unusable or under deliver on the programming... installing and walking away. After the customer uses a basic move-in plan to become comfortable with the system, we spend a couple of evenings in the home to understand what goes on in every room. We then make adjustments to tailor the system to your situation.

Obviously these adjustments must be made after dark when the family is at home. The electrical trade is not interested in working past 3:30 in the afternoon. We offer a totally different level of service. We will come out at 8:30 PM to make an adjustment for a party the next evening.

The system makes programmed changes by the clock. Scene changes or multiple light changes are made from a master keypad and individual lights can be adjusted from wall keypads without overwriting the program. You can monitor and change all the lights in the house from a master keypad.

If lighting knocks out your computer or in the event of a computer crash your lights will still work with the manual backup system we provide in our designs. We can also provide wireless lighting control systems that can make an existing home a candidate for sophisticated lighting control.

Shade control

What about the changing seasons?
An unchanging shade control system would not make much sense because each evening the sun sets at a slightly different time and in a slightly different position. To allow for this, IMS can activate the processors’ built-in astronomical time clock that adjusts subtly with the sunrise and sunset as the year, and the natural light, progresses. Much more sophisticated than only adjusting for daylight savings time, this system will compensate for the varying light each day so you don’t have to!

Economically wise and environmentally sound
Every time you dim a light bulb by 10%, its lifespan doubles. Don’t hurt yourself trying to change hard to reach sockets, and avoid the expenses that come along with hiring help to reach that 30-foot ceiling. Instead, use dimmers to extend lamp life.

Exterior Lighting
Why deal with the fuss of a separate system for outdoor lighting, and the inconvenience of having a single point to control those circuits, when it can be integrated into your existing system? Why not replace those ugly multi-gang switch plates with a sleek and elegant single-gang keypad or touch panel?

As with interior lighting, Lutron offers a wide variety of designs for the exterior of your house. Many people make the mistake of spending so much time designing their interior that they forget how important lighting is to the outside of a home, as well. Keypad styles
Lutron offers a variety of plate styles and colors, so your system is sure to fit seamlessly into your décor. They can be custom-engraved and backlit, and range in size all the way down to less than a square inch. For color, they offer thirty-four standard paint tones and fourteen metal finishes, from bronze to 14-carat gold. In addition, Lutron can match any Sherwin Williams or Duron paint chip for a custom-colored plate.
